Goats
We have ventured into having goats at our little
farm. This started out as a need to have goats eat down the blackberries
in our sheep pastures and has grown into a project of it's own.
We have Nubian
dairy goats to breed for milk and meat and are registered with the
ADGA. They are so cute that I find my
self totally amused by them and their antics. We are considering getting a couple more doelings depending upon what our breeder has
for personalities and appearance when her last doe kids in March.
We are intending to use the Nubians for our milk
and meat needs as well as use them for eating down the newly growing
blackberries in our pastures and for providing milk to make soaps, but the potential exists that we will have
extra doelings and bucklings for sale come next year.

We have established a breeding program for Boer goats
and registered with the
USBGA. The Boer
are a meat variety goat from South Africa that do a very good job of producing a lot of
meat. They get big, but still maintain that friendly goat
personality that has won us over.
And as always, the Boer goats do a great job of eating down
the blackberries and brush in our pastures as well.
