Marta's small flock of Perendale sheep started out as ten
sheep in 1989. She purchased them from people in Southern Utah. The
sheep originally came from Maryland. This is one of the few registered
flocks of Perendale sheep West of the Mississippi. In fact, there are
not too many Perendale sheep in the United States. Marta has been
artificially inseminating some of her ewes with semen from carefully
selected New Zealand rams. This AI Process has been worthwhile and has
greatly improved her flock.
Currow Hill Ranch has diverged its breeding program to include both white and colored fleece Perendale sheep. Marta has been spinning wool since 1971, and is truly a treasure of information and practical advice for the starting shepherd. |

R. C. and Chicken Anselmo are Perendale breeders who have
entered into a program with U.C. Davis for training sheep to selectively
graze/weed vineyards without eating the grape vines via chemical
treatment of grape leaves to deter the sheep during a training period.

John and Marielle Latimer are establishing a registered
Perendale flock in Washington State for breeding and commercial
use. Their breeding stock comes from a selection of the wonderful
sheep at Marta Sullivan's Currow Hill Ranch as well as a few ewes from
the Seven Hills Land and Cattle Company, L.L.C.
Clover Country Farm has chosen to specifically breed white fleeced Perendale sheep. They also provide and maintain the Perendale.US website. |
